BIULI'R DAL:

Biuli'r dal is a popular dish in west bengal districts. With its popular accompaniment like Alu posto it is everyone's favorite during hot summer months. This dal is known to have cooling properties.It can be cooked in various ways like with coconut paste etc but according to me it tastes best with ginger and fennel seed paste(Aada mouri baata diye) as mentioned below.
BIULI'R DAL WITH GINGER AND FENNEL PASTE:
INGREDIENTS:
Biuli'r dal -1 cup
1 tsp fennel seeds(mouri)
1 dried whole red chilli
1 bay leaf(tej pata)
few green chillies
1 tbs fresh ginger paste
1 tbs paste of fennel seeds
salt to taste
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
2 tsp of oil
Method:
1. Dry roast the dal without oil in a kadai
2.Boil the dal in a saucepan with salt and turmeric powder till it is cooked.
3.Heat oil in the kadai. Add whole dried red chilli,bayleaf, fennel seeds and fry for few seconds till aroma comes out.
4.Add ginger and fennel paste and saute the spices for couple of minutes.
5.Add dal and stir gently to bring it to boil.Add chopped green chillies according to taste and check seasoning.
It's ready to serve along with Alu posto or posto's bada.

Mouri should be Fennel seed, not Fenugreek. Fenugreek is methi.

Aaj suddenly biuli r daal khete ichche korlo , but I was not sure whether to put cumin or fennel .. I searched the net and see who helped me out ... It's uuuuuu.
