PALANG SHAK DIYE MOONG DAL( MOONG DAL WITH SPINACH)

I just finished watching one of my favorite movies 'Moonstruck'.It's about an Italian family based in Newyork. The simple and funny narrative will make you long for nourishing feel good food like crispy hot toast with melted butter and sugar sprinkled on top.
The recipe I'm about to write is also simple, nourishing and good to eat. Children who do not like spinach may just like it.
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup Moong dal ( lightly roasted in a kadai without oil)
250 gm spinach thoroughly washed and chopped
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp chopped ginger
1/4 tsp of asoefetida(hing)
1 dried red chilli
2 green chilli finely chopped
1 tsp cumin seeds
1tsp of ghee or oil
salt to taste
1/2 tsp of sugar

METHOD
1. Cook moong dal with sufficient water with turmeric powder and salt. Moong dal has a tendency to become thicker after cooking is over, so water should be added keeping this in mind.
2.When the dal is more of less cooked, add chopped spinach and cook for another 3-4 mins till done.
3. heat ghee or oil. Add cumin seeds.dried red chilli, and asoefetida (hing).Add green chilli, chopped ginger and fry for few seconds till aroma of the spices come out.
4. Add dal, check seasoning and finally add a little sugar.
Voila!!
Spinach with Moong dal is ready. Serve with rice.
