CABBAGE WITH PRAWN( CHINGRI DIYE BAANDHAKOPIR GHANTO

This is one of the best ways to have cabbage.You should have medium size prawns for this dish .
INGREDIENTS:
1 Medium size cabbage finely shredded and thoroughly washed under running water
2 cups of cleaned, deveined medium size prawns
1 bay leaf
1 tsp whole cumin seeds
1 tbsp ginger paste
1 tsp cumin powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp red chilli powder( or as per your taste but do not use the bland kashmiri chilli powder)
1 large tomato chopped
1/2 tsp bengali garam masala powder or freshly ground paste of green cardamom, clove and cinnamon
salt and sugar to taste
4 tbsp of oil
METHOD:
1. Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a kadai and lightly saute the prawns.Keep aside.
2.In another kadai heat the rest of the oil. Add bay leaf and whole cumin seeds
3. Add the chopped tomatoes and saute for 1 min.
4.Add the cabbage, ginger paste and all the masalas except garam masala.Add salt,stir properly,cover with a tight lid and cook in medium heat till the cabbage has softened and almost cooked.Do not forget to stir occasionally and if the dish gets too dry you can sprinkle some water.
5.Add the sauted prawns and cook for some more time.Take care not to overcook the prawn as overcooking makes the prawn rubbery and tasteless.
6.Check the seasoning,add sugar and garam masala powder or paste.
And a delicious dish with cabbage is ready.
