This is a slight variation on my other recipe i.e PANEER POSTO. Again a very simple recipe with very few ingredients.
INGREDIENTS:
1/2 kg paneer( indian cottage cheese )cut into roughly 1" size pieces
1 bay leaf
1 large onion thinly sliced
3 tbs of freshly made black mustard paste( I really can not recommend bottled paste as I have'nt used it for my recipe. )with one green chilli and little salt.Strain with a tea strainer to remove the black husk.
1 tbs of poppy seed paste
salt and sugar to taste
few green chillies chopped
4 tbs of vegetable oil
METHOD:
1. Lightly saute paneer pieces in 2 tbs of oil in a frying pan.Keep aside.
2.Heat the rest of the oil in the pan. Add bay leaf, onion slices and green chillies. Saute till the onions are golden brown.
3. Add the mustard paste , poppyseed paste and salt.Cook for 2/3 mins. Add 3/4th cup hot water and the paneer pieces.Cover and cook for 2 more minutes.
4.Check seasoning and add sugar.
5. For garnishing you may add chopped coriander leaves though I prefer to avoid it. The mustard and paneer combination gives out a nice flavor on its own.
